Patrick Gracey is the holder of the Monty
Roberts Preliminary Certificate of Horsemanship and a Recommended
Associate of Intelligent Horsemanship. Patrick was trained by
Kelly Marks.
"Horses have been a life-long passion of Patrick's. He has
owned horses of several different breeds including Arabs, Welsh, Irish
Draught and Warmbloods.
Patrick,
who originates from Ireland, was given a unique opportunity in
2005, when he was asked to round up a herd of wild horses in Southern
Ireland. The animals ranged from yearlings to 28 year olds, mares
and colts, previously totally unhandled. In less than a week
Patrick had trained the horses to accept saddle, bridle and rider.
Patrick is fully supported by his family in his quest to eliminate
mistreatment of equines. He is often assisted by his daughter
Shauna in the handling and
preparation for ridden work. Wife Sue is responsible for the day
to day administration of the business.
In addition to training the horse, Patrick
intends to offer a service to schools and the community illustrating the
non-violent techniques he uses, which can also be adapted to encourage
children to behave in an acceptably social manner.
