Monty Roberts’
Join-Up®
technique creates a close bond between human and horse. Join-Up®
uses this bond as a starting point to solving many behavioural problems,
from kicking to problems loading into trailers. Patrick has supported both Kelly Marks and Monty Roberts since 2004 and has worked with many problem horses using the Join-Up® technique, which is designed to approach the horses problems in a gentle, non-violent, way. Once Patrick has formed a bond of mutual trust and respect with the horse, a lot of ground work is then undertaken as a lot of problems start from the ground. This will include exercises to 'move the feet of the horse' to show the horse that you are a worthy leader, who deserves his respect. The nature of the training then is very much driven by the nature of the problem. If, for example, the horse spooks easily, it will include exercises that accustoms the horse to the many 'scary' situations he will meet in life. All horses are individuals and Patrick's techniques are adapted to take into account the needs and character of the horse and to progress at the correct speed. Your horse can be taught to be at ease doing many things, however strange, and they can all improve his confidence in his own abilities and his trust in you. Patrick is keen for clients to take the opportunity of being involved with the training of the horse, therefore giving them a better understanding of the techniques and how to use them in a home environment. The support doesn't stop there. Patrick is available via email or phone to assist clients with any future problems or training requirements. |
